All "Dressed" Up

The girls' Griffin great grandparents (Mimi & Banky) bought the girls dresses, and they are absolutely adorable.  Addison absolutely loved hers.  She twirled and danced around like a "ballerina."  She looks so grown up in this picture.  She is 3 now (posts to come about her birthday soon), but I'm just not ready for her to act so grown up.

Shaving Cream Paint

After seeing shaving cream paint on Pinterest and other blogs, I knew that the girls would love it.  I made various colors in a muffin tin and away they went.  They loved it.  The water looked like a big blob of gray, but the paint was everywhere.  I call that a success.  I'm sure we'll do it again.

Easter

The picture taking for Easter was sub pare to say the least.  The girls were not in the picture taking mood, and I didn't keep the camera handy.

Don't they just look thrilled?

We celebrated Gingy and Gray's birthday on Easter also.

Lakepointe Easter Egg Hunt

Our sweet friend Kate invited us to her church Easter egg hunt.  So we loaded up the girls and thought that we just might get some aggressiveness out of them at the hunt.  Once again.....no aggressiveness.  Our girls got zero, yes zero eggs.  One day I hope their passiveness retreats a little bit and they show me that they are competitive.  I did somehow manage to get a few pictures.

Their faces/body language tell exactly what they thought about being there.  It was time to go home.

Jeep Reveal

To say that Addison is in love with Jeeps would be an understatement.  She screams with excitement any time she sees a Jeep.  So we knew exactly what she needed for her 3rd Birthday - a Jeep.  However, we didn't want to spend +$300 on a Jeep that the girls would probably only be interested in for a year.  Off to Craigslist I went.  After weeks of looking, I came across one for $115.  Yipee!  It looked great.  Jordan went and picked it up and we put it in the front bedroom (the one that Addison never goes in).  It was in there for a few days before "the discovery."  Jordan had gone in the room to shred something and she thought she say a lawn mower.  Later that afternoon I was in the kitchen, Landry was taking a nap, and Jordan was in our room working.  It got real quiet and after a few minutes I went to go look for her.  As I was calling her name, she yells "Mom, look it's a Jeep."  She was so excited.  I wish I could have captured that moment on camera (which I would have been able to do if she hadn't been nosy).

With the Jeep being discovered early we didn't have the battery charged, so she had to wait till the next day to drive it.  The lack of battery didn't stop them from discovering every square inch of it that day.  She was in love.

So the following day we let her venture out with the Jeep.  We knew she had no idea how to drive it, so we headed to a large field about 2 houses down from our house and just let her go.  She ran into the neighbor's fence and trees.  It was hilarious.  By the time Landry got up from her nap, Addison was ready for her second Jeep adventure.  She did much better and Landry loved it (see video below).

Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt

Let's just start off this post by saying that my girls do not have very aggressive personalities, which does not help in Easter egg hunts.  They will gladly stand and watch others run with fury picking up eggs and be content.

They had their first Easter egg hunt in the neighborhood.  The email stated that the hunt would begin at 10:00a and food, drinks, Easter bunny would follow.  We load up the girls in the wagon and head to the hunt at 9:50a.  As we are pulling up to the hunt, we see the kids running towards the eggs.  I'm sure you can figure out the end of this story - Mom and Dad didn't get them to the hunt in time, so there were no eggs to be gathered (not that they would care anyways).  They were more interested in playing on the playground behind them.

She looks so grown up here.
Could care less about the Easter basket and getting eggs.  I think she may have been eyeing the Easter bunny (not a fan).

Love These Girls

They make my heart smile.  Every day I come home from work I love to see these girls smiling faces.  Their naive nature takes me away from the full speed ahead lifestyle and brings me back down to how little minds see the world.  It's so refreshing.

Your Dadda and I love you so much!

New Ottoman & Desk

Believe me I would love to have an interior decorator come into my house and decorate my entire house and I just write a check, but that's not happening in the Griffin household.  With two kids under 3, a dog, and so much more there aren't too many reasons to spend a lot of money on furniture for this home.  We'll definitely splurge on the next home, but we have already come to the conclusion that we need furniture that will outlast our girls toddler years.

With that theme in mind, we did a little shopping at Ikea a few weekends ago.  I wanted an ottoman for the living room, because a coffee table for sharp corners is not conducive.

Before I wanted to get an ottoman I wanted to get Jordan a desk.  He used to have this beautiful Havertys desk in his own room in the house and then our sweet baby girl Landry came along and she took his office away.  Poor guy has been working on a card table in our bedroom for about a year now.  His coworkers couldn't believe that he didn't have a real desk.  Well I guess he's deserving of a real (kind of) desk.  I think he's much more happy and I am due to aesthetic purposes.

Addison's Easter Dress 2012

I don't know if I'll get a picture of Addison in her Easter dress so I thought I'd post a picture for me to remember.

Addison's Birthday Party Preparation

I can't believe that Addison's 3rd birthday is this month.  So much so that I am running behind on getting things prepared for her party, which is not like me at all.  Maybe deep down I don't want her to turn 3.  Where has my first born gone?  Where's my baby?  I may have been a procrastinator with the party, but it's going to be a dang good party by the time it's all said and done.

We're still just doing a small party with family, but I still want to send out invitations, decorations, on and on.  Below are some of the items for the party.  I love the internet.  It means that I don't have to go with the generic theme of cupcakes, Dora, princess.  It means that I can make this party fit our little girls personality and likes for her time in life.  Those likes include Jeeps, so we're going with a girlie Jeep theme.  I think she'll love it.

I'm going to add a pink flag

I'm still debating on what we're going to do for food, but here are two of the top contenders.

Pull Out the Swimsoups

It's officially "swimsoup" season at the Griffin household.  Our girls love the water.  They would literally play in the water for hours if I would let them.  At times I wish we had a pool, but then that would mean me getting in my "swimsoup" too.  This way I can just sit in a chair and watch the girls or just open up the back door and let them at it.  Life is grand.
