Yogurtville

So often we, as consumers we only spread the word about bad customer service.  However, this time I want to talk about what sincere customer service we received last Saturday at our local Yogurtville.

The place was packed.  As we were going through the line to get ice cream in our bowl, we noticed that the chocolate yogurt spout, pan underneath, and the floor was covered melted chocolate ice cream.  Someone had left a huge mess and not told an employee about it.  I asked Jordan to tell the young lady behind the counter so they could clean it up before someone slipped.  While we were putting the goodies on our yogurt the young lady cleaned it up.  We got to the end of the bar to pay for our ice cream and she gave it to us for free.  She thanked us for telling them about it, so that they could clean it up.  Wow.  Now that's customer service.  She didn't have to do that at all.  They just won a customer for life.  We will definitely be going back.

Before & After

We spent all day on Saturday cleaning up the yard.  Jordan was so patient with me Saturday morning going to the nursery with the girls to pick up some flowers.  I usually go to Lowes to get our flowers, but this year I wanted to go to a nursery and get some professional opinions on what would work best for our yard.  My opinions haven't always worked out in our favor.  The lady was so nice.  I love the way they turned out and hope that the perennials truly do come back next year.

Before
After

We purchased the mulch from Lowes and realized we had purchased too much.  Of course the girls were excited to go to Lowes.  They know they can run and run and run around that store.
They found a bench that was just their size

Let the Sunshine Begin

What a difference sunshine can make in the lives of our family.  We spend almost every minute the sun is up outside.  The girls love to be outside, and as their mommy I love how it wears them out.  Everyone is in a much better mood when we're not stuck in the house all day.  Last year Landry still couldn't walk at this time, so it's been great to have them be independent while I do something in the yard.

I think she likes to be outside.  How 'bout you?
She's so intense when watering the flowers.  It has to be just right.

When Daddy's Away

When Daddy's away, the girls will play.  Jordan was gone to training last week, so the girls and I knew the perfect bedtime snack - popcorn.  Let's just say our girls LOVE popcorn.  They are excited from the first mention of the word, to watching it pop, and digging in.

If you look to the right side of the picture you'll see who's waiting for popcorn to drop.

Water Bucket

I'm playing a little catch up on the blog.  One day the post from the weekend will be posted that next week instead of two weeks later but until then this is how it will get done.

The weather has been absolutely gorgeous around here, which I am so grateful for.  Our girls do so much better when they can get outside.  They will stay out all day long and debate with you when and why they have to go inside (Addison).  Landry just throws a fit - I'm sure there will be more posts on this in the near.  She's learning out to throw fits.  Until then let's celebrate water buckets, flip flops, and the play set.

Daddy got Addison a new water bucket
"Mom, why isn't the water coming out?"
"Arghhh."  Addison is in love with being a pirate and looking for a buried treasure.  She's holding the stem of the baseball tee.

Every Little Girl Does This...

cuts her own hair.  The other night I had gotten some scissors out to cut a tag off some shoes that I had gotten for Addison.  I ran into the living room to talk to Jordan for a minute.  The next thing I know Addison comes out of her room with a huge smile on her face.  I knew instantly that she was up to something.  As soon as I asked her, she showed me the pile of hair in her hand.  She was so proud of herself.  Jordan and I just cracked up laughing.  Looking back we probably should have scolded her, but the look on her face was priceless.  Luckily the hair she cut was just the shorter pieces of her hair and not cut so short that I'd have to make bangs.  The next day she went to see Mrs. Angie to get it fixed.

Part of the hair she cut - wish I would have gotten a picture of her

Landry: 15 Months

When I think of Landry at this age it's hard not to compare her to Addison and as a parent I try not to but it just happens.  What total opposite personalities they have.  She makes me laugh and smile at her even when she's not trying.  We love you so much and enjoy your budding personality.

  • Easy to fall asleep and stay asleep
  • Determined, no fear, care free, adventurous
  • Don't like to be told no - cry instantaneously
  • Love to be outside, especially being pulled in the wagon
  • Obsessed with hanging out/playing in the minivan
  • Bear and blanket are still a must when sleeping
  • Love to read books - starting to say and point at things (i.e. bird, frog, bear)
  • Always has a bruise, bump, or scratch
  • Eat everything in site (bananas are still your favorite)
  • Starting to become more of a Daddy's girl - can't I at least have one that is a mommy's girl?  Just kidding.  There's nothing more precious that a little girl thinking her daddy hung the moon.
  • Poor Buddy, the dog is pestered by her constantly
  • Scavenges the pantry all day long
  • Will climb up the ladder on the playlet and slide down (by herself, if we would let her)
  • No more bottles
  • Size 4 diapers
  • 12-18 month clothes, 5.5 shoe
  • Weight: 23.95 lbs (50-75%)
  • Length: 32" (90%)
  • Head: 18.5 (75%)

Sunday

I think the last time I was able to get these two girls together for a picture was months ago and those were professional.  We attempted and this is the best that we could do.  Addison is at the age of not wanting her picture taken at all.

These girls just melt my heart.  I love to watch their sisterly relationship grow.  Addison is really starting to involve Landry in her play.  I pray that they will have a close relationship.

Thanks Mom

When we went to Vegas for a mini vacation my mom kept the girls at our house.  They had an absolute blast.  The girls love their MeeMaw.  They do all kinds of things and get away with a lot, even though MeeMaw makes them follow rules.

Organizing my pantry has become my mom's annual to do at my house.  Whenever she's there for a few days without us I come home to a newly arranged pantry.  We really appreciate her attention to detail.

Birthday Present to Myself

I got a little bit of cash for my birthday, and I knew exactly what I wanted.  I wanted a new camera that was small enough but good quality that would fit into my purse or diaper bag.  I did a little research (not too much) and came up with this little guy.  It's the Nikon Coolpix S9100.  I know you camera geeks out there won't be very impressed but it works for me and my camera abilities (few and far between).  They had them at Target on sale for $169.  The usually run about $350 but the 2012 were coming out so they were trying to get rid of these.  So far I'm very pleased.  I've taken a few pictures with it and can already tell a big difference in quality between this one and my old one.

Raccoon

I tell Landry she's a raccoon.  Any time she finds a way to get into the pantry she searches the trash can to see what might look tasty.  Last week I found her eating McDonalds french fries and licking a lid of chocolate pudding.  I didn't get pictures of the french fries, but I was able to get pudding pictures.

She acts like we don't feed her, but believe you me we do.  She eats all the time.  It's amazing to see how much more she eats than Addison (almost 3).  I didn't know children could eat like that.  It definitely makes feeding her much easier than picky Addison.

Me trying to figure out what's on her face
Evidence - pudding wrapping
Don't you just love the pudding on the floor.  When we bought the house I didn't think we would still be in the house we are, so I went with a lighter carpet.  Bad idea!!!  That's why Jordan says we will not move to another home until the girls are old enough to not make messes all day long.  ha
"It was so yummy to my tummy, and I did it all by myself."

Vegas Baby

To celebrate my 30th birthday Jordan and I decided to head to Vegas for a few days to getaway and mainly to go to the Garth Brooks concert.  I know you're thinking - really?  Yes, really.  Garth Brooks was awesome.

We stayed at Aria.  It's a new hotel and has a lot of cool features.  You could control the tv, lights, curtains, temperature, etc. from the tv remote.  Everything was digital.  So cool!

A little something from Aria to say Happy Birthday - thanks babe

The first night we were there we decided to go to Fremont Street in downtown Vegas.  You hear about the light show and how they supposedly redid the Golden Nugget (not too impressed if they did).

Shark Tank at Golden Nugget - inside the pool

Thursday morning we rented a car and drove to Hoover Dam.  Wow.  What an amazing site and accomplishment, especially during those times.  I'm so glad we went.  It's one of those things you're not sure if you should take the time to experience, but it was worth it.

We had a great time.  Jordan and I both agreed that it will be a long time before we go back to Vegas unless it's for work or something that is paid for.  The naps everyday were great but Garth topped off the trip.  I wish I had pictures of the concert, but they wouldn't allow any photos.  We read the reviews before we went and let me just say, it's just as good as the reviews state.  He is absolutely hilarious and oh how the songs bring back childhood memories.  Jordan's not a big Garth fan and he loved it.

McDonalds

(I don't know if she ever has the bow on that she left the house with when we pick her up)

I had to pick the girls up from MDO one Friday.  Addison is always hungry/thirsty when you pick her up, so it's best if you have a snack or juice.  Well, it was last minute decision that I was going to have to get her, so I was ill prepared.  I knew exactly what would hit the spot - McDonalds.  The last few months she has really started loving McDonalds.  She doesn't request it, but she gets so excited when we get it for her.  I ordered $1 fries and a drink for me.  Needless to say, she and Landry ate all of the fries but I think she found a new favorite - frozen carmel drink.

Birthday Celebration Continues

What a great 30th birthday I had.  The gifts and celebrations continued into March.  What more could a girl ask for?

The celebrations really started first at work.  The lovely ladies at Toyota of Lewisville knew what would melt my heart - birthday cake - icing.
That's all that was left for me to take home at the end of the day.

The weekend of my birthday Jordan surprised me last minute.  We had an event to go to Saturday evening for his work.  Before we left he asked if I would be interested in going to Lady Antebellum concert.  What?  Really?  There's a catch to the question.  Of course I said yes.  He followed up my response with - okay, now we've just got to get tickets.  The concert started at 7:30p, and we ended up getting tickets off of Craigslist at 7:30p.  That's how my hubby rolls - bargains (cheap...shhhh don't tell him I wrote that).  Seriously, we paid $120 for two tickets.  No too shabby.

I have an old iPhone 3, so I can't zoom when I take pictures.  So this shows how close we were to the stage.  They were great seats for the price we paid.  Thanks babe!!!

Grandaddy's Wrapped

I knew my nephew had my dad wrapped around his finger, but our girls have done the same.  The think he hung the moon (shhh....I won't tell them any different if you won't).  When he's at the house he plays his heart out with them and I am so thankful for that.  We love you Grandaddy!
She suckers everyone into reading her books.  I need to get a video of how she does it.
Don't you think you outgrew this years ago?

Family Birthday Celebration

Last month I turned the big 3-0.  Wow.  Last weekend someone asked me how old I was and I said thirty outloud.  It sounded so weird.  I still feel young at heart, so I'm going to go with that.  I have more posts about birthday celebrations coming soon.

Bundt cake from Katie and Doug - yummy
Uncle Gray - the girls will miss you so much
I don't think I'll be blowing my candles out on my birthday cake for many years to come.  I have a lot of helpers.  What's funny about this picture is that Addison ended up burning her hair from one of the candles.  Not too bad but enough to smell up the house.
